Volunteer: Frequently Asked Questions
I do not have any construction skills.
We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to help build houses. We have trained, knowledgeable people on site whenever work is going on.
When is the worksite open for volunteers?
Our worksite is open to volunteers Wednesday through Saturday. The typical workday runs from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with an hour off for lunch. Volunteers can work all day, morning (8:00 AM - Noon), or afternoon (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM).
What do I need to bring with me?
You should definitely bring water and a lunch with you. You may also bring your own tool belt, hammer, tape measure, safety glasses and hard hat. Any items you bring to the worksite should be well labeled with your name so you do not lose them. DO NOT bring your own power tools. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County will not be liable for any damages done to power tools on the site.
I do not want to volunteer on the worksite.
Volunteers are also needed to help out in the ReStore, office, or one of our committees. Check out the non-construction volunteer opportunities here.
How do I register my group to work?
Send an e-mail to our Volunteer Coordinator requesting to schedule your group. Depending on the work, we may need to limit the number of volunteers on the worksite. Once you have registered your group, each volunteer must review the online safety manual and have a signed waiver of liability.
